Minister: Russia may buy about 5 mln tns of Iranian oil per year
HOUSTON, U.S., Mar 7 (PRIME) -- Russia plans to buy about 100,000 barrels of oil per day from Iran under a goods for oil program, which amounts to about 5 million tonnes of oil per year, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on Tuesday during the CERAWeek conference.
“It will amount to 100,000 barrels a day, or about 5 million tonnes a year,” he said, adding that some agreements on conditions of the deal should be reached to implement the program.
“Work in this direction is going on. We hope it will be finished soon,” he said declinig to name any terms as they depend on different factors.
On February 21, Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) reported citing Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh that the country plans to sign an agreement to sell 100,000 barrels of oil a day to Russia within the next 15 days and receive payment half in cash and half in goods and services.
